19 December 1879
Salt Lake Stake Relief Society; Council House, Salt Lake City, Utah Territory
[. . .] There were present on the stand Sister Zina [D. H.] Young, Sister E. R. Snow, Sister S. [Serepta] M. Heywood, Sister B. [Bathsheba] Smith, Sister E. [Emmeline] B. Wells, Sister E. [Elmina] S. Taylor, Presidents of Soctitses [Societies] and other Ladeis. [. . .] Sister E. R. Snow said I am glad to see so many out this blustry day, but it is a very small meeting for this City. I have been visiting the settlements during the last three weeks. I find [p. 41] many good enerjetic Sisters, though some have lost their first love. I try to arouse my sisters to the necessity of attending meeting. I heard a brother remark, what would be the condition of our church today if there were no Relief Socities. We have got to live and work for the blessings that are promised unto us. I am very anxious for those that are not up and doing for it is dangerous to be at ease in Zion. We have got to be humble, faithful and dilgent, and should give all our time and talent to the Lord. Sister Snow closed with some excellent instructions to mothers and others in training little children. [. . .] [p. 42]
