I wish to say to the sisters before Brother [George Q.] Cannon left for the East he requested the prayers of the sisters in his behalf. It is pleasing to hear the minutes of the young Ladies they bring forth rich expressions that are full of intelligence. We are too apt to think it pride that keeps us on our seats. I am glad to hear the report of the 13th Ward United Order. As for wooden shoes I want a pair We have to bring about the prolongation of life; the Lord requires us to go to bed and early and rise early this all tends to preserve our lives. In rearing children how essential it is for mothers to promote their health. How much better it looks to see a young person strong and healthy, than to see one who is puny and whose worth <only> depended upon beauty

Coun Miss E. R Snow

It is for the purpose of saving our youth that these associations have been organized that they might meet together and have the spirit of God in their bosoms and know which was right and which was wrong.
