Portage Young Ladies; Portage, Idaho Territory

Sister E. R. Snow then rose to speak to the young sisters and of the way that some of our young people were raised and of the outside influence that would come into our midst unless we would be unitid [united] and guard against it She Said that these organizations would be a great blessing to us and be the means of Leading the minds of the young in the right way said that the lord thraugh [through] his servant Brigham young organized these associations said for the mothers to encourage their daughters in these meetings that we had great privilieges if we Could only realize it and the time would come when we could look back and realize it said it was our priveliege to be what we pleased but if we had a blessing we had got to work for it and be obedient truthfull and obedient prayerfull and above all cultivate the spirit of truth and be punctial [punctual] to our meetings spoke of the little things we Should begin with to lay the foundation of truth and a righteous and eternal life in the kingdom of god and to live humble before god our heavenly father and we would be the mothers of a mighty nation said that the success of the young girls depended upon the mothers. [p. 10]

She als[o] spoke on the principle of plural ma[r]riage said that it was a commandment of god and that it was a true and a righteous principle and she had been blessed therein spoke of the buldng [building] of the temple said that the sisters could do a great deal to words [towards] the building of these temples spoke of storing grain and of the famine that was to come and that these organizations were becoming a great power in Zion she proud of the young sisters in their well doing asked god to bless us and we had a time of rejoicing togather.

bishop [George] dunford of malad [. . .] spoke well in faver of sisters E R snow and E [Elizabeth A.] davis [. . .] william st clair (senior) said that if we would apply to the instructions that we had received they would do us good and that the instructions we had received were of god [. . .] [p. 11]
