[. . .] Sister [Amelia H.] Goldsbrough [. . .] advised us to give strict attention to what Sister Eliza R. Snow Smith would say to us. [. . .] [p. 124] [. . .] Sister Eliza R. Snow Smith spoke: said she felt deeply interested in these Associations; said when these Associations were first organized, some of the parents did not realize the necessity of having them; said when we undertake to do any work, if we have the patience and perseverance to perfect it, we would become authors, experts, etc. Exhorted the young brethren and sisters to set their standard high: said it would be impossible for us to set them too high; said we could not be too intelligent or acquire too much knowledge; advised us to be humble and prayerful; said, in all our improvement, we should keep single eye in Christ Jesus. Said the young girls could do a great deal in this Church; exhorted us to be punctual in attending our meetings; said we could be just what we wished to; said that good manners was more ornamental than fine clothing; spoke some time and gave good instructions.
